Why Do People Bother Voting?

This article was strange, but it kind of made sense.  It tried to explain how even though we know that our vote doesn't count all that much when compared to the billions of votes cast, we still vote.  It said that it was mainly because we recognize that others feel the way we do about it and if others decide not to vote, then their candidate won't win.  So, by them themselves voting, they feel that they are making others who feel the same way vote.  It our narcissism that makes us vote.  I disagree that our votes don't matter, because they do.  We should all vote when we come age.  However, this article makes sense in saying that this is why we vote.

  1. i agree with what you say about when you become of age you should vote. It is your constitutional right to do so, and the fact that it is basically senior citizens who vote is disappointing. We should all speak our opinion because that is the american dream

  2. I agree with both you and Tom that we should vote, but I only think we shoul dif we are INFORMED. We have a major dispute going on at our church, for instance. We are considering leaving our branch of my religion due to our new pastor's beliefs and what she supports, and many people are making up rumors and acting like they know what's going on. Really, many have the info completely backwards. This is usually the case when it comes to a subject to be voted on, and I think we really need to become better informed before casting our vote because yes, one vote does matter.
